October is one of my favorite months of the year. The roses begin to bloom where I live, the fall weather begins kicking in, and it’s such an amazing month filled with so many beautiful feast days! Among my favorites are the feast days of Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Teresa of Avila, the Holy Guardian Angels, St Francis of Assisi, St. Gerard Majella, St. Margaret Mary Alocoque, and St. Raphael the Archangel (among so many others!)
If you follow me over on my YouTube channel, you know that I’m a big fan of the Benedictus (Sophia Press monthly booklet) and each booklet includes a Virtue of the Month. This month that virtue is CONFIDENCE, and what a beautiful vitue to focus on considering how much confidence we should put in the loving intercession of Our Blessed Mother.

Sister Lucia (of Our Lady of Fatima) said,
“There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary”.
And little Jacinta said,
“Tell everybody that God grants us His graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that they should ask Her for them, that the Heart of Jesus wants the Immaculate Heart of Mary to be honored along with Him, that they should ask the Immaculate Heart of Mary…”
Furthermore, reflecting on the incredible example of confidence given to us by St. Therese of Lisieux (and all the saints!) its just such a wonderful reminder that we are never alone, and can always rejoice that God is with us.
St. Therese of Lisieux beutifully said,
“Let us not grow tired of prayer. Confidence works miracles.”
and regarding the Rosary she explained,
“The Rosary is a long chain that links heaven and earth. One end of it is in our hands, and the other end is in the hands of the Holy Virgin. The Rosary prayer rises like incense to the feet of the Almighty. Mary responds at once like a beneficial dew,…”
To help me keep these things in mind, it helps me and my family to plant little reminders around the house to serve as little visual cues for keeping on our minds and in our hearts these particular subjects for the month of October. I usually start by putting centerstage (on my main bookshelf) any books we have related to the Rosary and of the saints of this month. In October I also like to decorate with a rose theme, since it ties in so well with the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and St. Therese of Lisieux.
